Lady Liberty in the house

Make room for the newest and largest lady in town. She has taken up residence in my dining room and is fitting in quite nicely, thank you very much.

The picture almost doesn't do it justice as it looks a bit small but really is not.

Liberty was painted by an Australian artist called Shane Bowden and it was love at first sight. The original plan was to hang her over our front door, so every time you leave she reinforces your impending freedom. Clever huh? Unfortunately, she is a few centimetres wider than the hallway so she will live in the dining room, with this gorgeous, large wall to herself.

Honestly I'm just glad it arrived safely and undamaged. I'd been told at time of purchase that shipping it some 2000 kilometres south would take a while because they had to sent it to a specialist packer, then to a shipping company, blah blah blah bullshit.

It turned up leaning against one of the truck walls, unwrapped. No cardboard, blankets, bubble wrap, nothing; it was a small miracle it didn't show up with a great rip down the canvas.

Anyway, all's well that ends well as they say...
